💕 Pros & Cons To Open Relationships 💕

Pros & Cons Of Open Relationships

Written By: Rose Joseph (J.J.)

Have you ever been in a relationship and the topic of an open relationship comes up? Perhaps you're the one open to this type of relationship while your partner has never considered it. What does an open relationship really mean? An open relationship means having more than one romantic or sexual partner at a time. Some couples find open relationships work for them, while others are firmly against the idea. Have you ever wondered if an open relationship could work for you? To help you understand more about this form of relationship, I'm going to discuss a few pros and cons of open relationships. After reading, it'll be up to you and your partner to decide if it's something you want to explore.

Remember, not every relationship or person is the same. What you may be open to, others may not be. Some people see it as a turn-on seeing and being part of their partner with someone else, while others couldn't do this for many reasons.

It's important to understand love isn't a one-size-fits-all! It's important to understand your own relationship before entering into something new, like an open relationship. Before starting these forms of relationships, it's always best to be open and honest with your partner. Communicate what boundaries you have. Additionally, if there is a lack of trust in your relationship, or if trust is weak, it might be beneficial to work on your relationship before trying anything new.

Pro; You & your might experience greater sexual satisfaction. After being in a relationship for a long time, it can start to lose sexual satisfaction. Some individuals find that this helps their relationship.

Con; You or your partner might feel jealous. Some individuals feel jealous just seeing their partner talking to someone else. Seeing them start a relationship or knowing they are being intimate with another person might push them over the edge.

Pro; You get to meet new people. Meeting new people is always a plus. This helps improve your and your partner's social connections with others.

Con; Open Relationships can be time-consuming. Making time for one person takes some of your time. But if you're trying to be in an open relationship you will have less time to enjoy things outside the relationship you enjoy.

Pro; You and your partner can explore whether or not monogamy is important to both of you. This will let you learn something new about yourself and your partner.

Con; An open relationship will not fix your problems in your relationship. This can make things worse. Thinking this will fix your problems is the wrong thought. Open relationships could lead one if not both partners in the arms of the other person.

Con; It is more expensive. Not only are you buying gifts for your partner, but you are now getting gifts for a second person or more. Saving a little money is a lot harder.

Now that you have a better understanding of the "Pros & Cons" is this something you are open to? If you're open to this, how do you think your partner will feel? Don't just assume you know their answer. It's important to talk to them about this idea, and be open, honest, and listen to what they have to say.

If you are thinking about this, I hope some of this information helps you and your partner in making the right decision for you as a couple.
